Today I woke up on the wrong side of the bed and it snowed. Yuck. I hate today.

I do, however love these pictures and miss the chicka in the middle more than a lot a lot.

And I miss this guy a lot too. He ditched me today to go on a field trip and won't be home till tomorrow.

At least it looks like he is having fun... I think?

Anniversary

This year we celebrated our one year anniversary! I cannot believe it has already been a year. Since we had pretty much partied the whole week previous to our anniversary, the day of was pretty low key. We went out together for a lunch date to Cafe Rio, which is where we went on our second date. Then later that night we ate the cake. I was kind of bummed because the top tier of our cake was Red Velvet, which was the one I picked out. Had we eaten it on the day of our marriage, I am sure it would have been more pleasing to my taste buds, but considering it had been in my freezer for a year, it wasn't too bad. We spread the cake love with our families and they seemed to enjoy it.

Saturday Michael took work off so he could go to a test review so I hung out with Andersons. Then later that afternoon, our anniversary date began. We went to Porter's Place in Lehi because nothing screams romance like a country western restaurant. What matters most is that our tummies were greatly satisfied when we left.

Then we took TRAX, which was Michael's first time ever, up to Salt Lake so we could go to a concert. We had time to kill before so we hung out at the Planetarium. Michael got to explain a bunch of rock stuff to me which made me feel smart and so pleased that  my husband is studying something that he loves so much. I heart my husband and he hearts rocks. He also taught me how to moon walk.

After the Planetarium, we went to the said concert listed above. I am almost embarrassed to say that we went to the Lady Gaga concert. All I knew about Lady Gaga was that she dressed weird and had a few good songs that I really like. We thought it would be a funny thing to say that we did for our one year wedding anniversary, but it mostly was just a waste of time. Her platform is not one that I agree with, and I felt very uncomfortable being there. We left early and went home, where we met a very funny gentleman on TRAX who asked if we were BYU people. I guess we looked like a fish out of water, but I am grateful that we left when we did. What was interesting is that when we left, people yelled at us, calling us haters, and all we had done was walked out. I am grateful for our family standards and hope to be able to pass that on to our kiddos.

To say the least, it was an interesting experience. I am so glad to be married to Michael Scott and we can only go up from here when it comes to how we celebrate our many more years of marriage.
I love you babe.

Best Week Ever

I love celebrating my birthday, even though  if you ask me to my face I will deny it. I hate feeling like a burden to those around me and have someone feel obligated to get me a present or something. None the less, I love my birthday.

What better way to celebrate your birthday by celebrating for a whole week instead of just one day? I, being the lucky girl that I am, got to!

It started out Friday night with Brats and J Dawgs sauce along with these which are the best part of my birthday season no joke. I love the Thin Mints and Samoas, and pretty sure when I saw the little girls selling them at Harmons, I squealed.

Saturday we got to celebrate Grandma and Grandpa Lambson's 60 year wedding anniversary. I love love! I really love watching the two of them in love because they prove  that you can truly make it through anything.  I am sad that I don't have a picture of them together though.

Sunday we may have taken advantage of daylight savings and forgot to set our clocks ahead on "accident". Oh who cares, we slept in on purpose and missed church and just enjoyed having a day completely off, with nothing to do until our family dinners later in the evening. I love hanging out with my husband and we took a very much needed break from deadlines and pressures. It was heavenly.

Monday we had the cousins over for Family Home Evening and they surprised me with a birthday party too! They had cake, balloons, and presents, including Mary Kay Satin Hands and Lips, mmm. I was so surprised and I heart my cousins! Oh and I made this for dinner and it was so good.

Tuesday was work all day and play all night. We are currently obsessed with a show called Ghost Adventures, mostly for its white trashness, and we stayed up until the wee hours of the morn watching it because.......

Wednesday was my birthday and I didn't have to go to work! Which meant sleeping in and breakfast in bed with my cute husband. Then there was some more sleeping in and taking my sweet time to get ready. I had some flowers delivered by this cutie and then yummy lunch with Mom, Beal, Nigel, Bradley, and my husband. Michael and I went shopping and then to a movie and just hung out. Hanging out doing nothing with my husband is the best birthday gift ever.

Thanks for the fun birthday my peeps. I am old now.

Introducing Jimmer

We are pleased to announce the latest edition to our family.

Introducing Jimmer Vineyard.

(Who knew my husband was such a sports fan huh?)

Michael has been wanting a bike ever since I have known him, and I like to ride on the back of bikes, as seen here. Us getting a bike was the perfect combo.  He got a deal from one of his high school buddies whose dad was our swim coach back  in the day. The bike has been sitting in our car port for about a week because Michael did not want to drive it without being legal. So we got up in the wee hours Monday morning to hit up the DMV. Lucky for us we had made an appointment to renew my license and have Michael take his permit test which he passed first try without studying at all, so we were in and out within about an hour, which for DMV time is FAST. Go us.

We heart Jimmer, both the dude and the bike.

Marty

This is Marty the Zebra. Today he is 91 days old. We met him when he was 88 days old and then visited again when he was 90 days old. He lives in Scipio, Utah, at a gas station petting zoo. Totally appropriate.

This weekend we headed down to St. George for a Matheson women apron making retreat, and I have to say that Marty was one of many  of the highlights of the trip.

And yes, the second Lexi and I saw him, we hopped out of the car and acted like kids in a candy store. We are mature. And Lexi is my cousin.

Who Says?

I had to write an opinion paper for my communications class and I thought it was funny that I let something bother me so much so I am sharing it here.

I have been thinking all semester about what I would want to write my opinion paper, and I thought that it would be hard to think of something. I mean, I have a lot of opinions, but I am pretty easy going and find it easier to go with the flow. I have never had to defend my opinion in a harsh manner. That is why my topic becomes more than just an issue concerning communication.  What I will talk about now is something that I feel strongly enough to write about. So here it is……
Advertisements are literally everywhere. We see them on billboards, on the radio, the annoying little pop ups that come on when we go online, I even now get texts to my personal phone with advertisements; you just can’t escape them.  I have seen a particular ad a lot lately while watching my beloved television shows on my all time favorite hulu.com and it has really struck a cord with me.  It is an ad for birth control, but not just any birth control, one that makes it so women only have a menstrual cycle four times a year as opposed to the twelve which the female body is designed to have. I am all for taking baby stopping pills, I take mine everyday at 7:30 in the morning. What I am not all for is when the women in the ad who are portrayed as cool and hip say “WHO SAYS? Who says you have to have 12 periods out of the year?” My response, in my head of course but once I also voiced it to my husband because it bothered me so much was, “Heavenly Father says! That’s who!”
The arrogance and attitude in which these women act bother me so much because there is many a person out there who buys something because an ad told them to.  The cool factor and fear factor that advertisers use just to make a dollar are unnerving. The communication they choose to use, rather than state facts or provide life changing services, is a communication style to scare people into using a particular product.  Yes modern technology and conveniences rock and I use a lot of them in my day to day life. Most of them I try to evaluate for myself because it is going to affect me and my body. I am not going to just put something into my body because a cool lady in a commercial told me to, or because pharmaceutical companies have doctors pushing the latest and greatest drug. I am a grown woman and can think for myself.
Another scare tactic that absolutely infuriates me is the push recently for the HPV shot. I went to the doctor and the first thing she asked me was if I had received that shot. I had not and will not because I am not going to inject something in my body just because someone else says to. I know there are those out there who have a different opinion than I do and I respect that they do. I welcome it in fact. What works for me will not work for everyone, and vice versa. My point is, and I apologize if it was not made clear, is that people should not use fear and manipulative tactics to make money off another person. We should all have each others best interest at heart and do the best that we can with what we have. My goal was not to make anyone else change their mindset to how I think. It was mostly aimed at getting my thoughts towards advertising, particularly ads directed towards my body, out there. I needed to vent and get it off my mind. So thank you kindly for giving me an opportunity to get it out there.

How you doin?

I am excited to show this to all the girls he will date a very, very long time from now.

Cat Whisperer

Recently we have been doing Family Home Evening with our Matheson cousins and it has been quite enjoyable. Last night, Bowens hosted, not just Brennon and Lexi, but also their little baby kitty Chloe. Lets just say that my hunger for a baby is equal in my husband's hunger for a fur ball running around our house.

We were told that Chloe never is that relaxed, so it appears my husband is the Cat Whisperer. Too bad I think that most cats are the  grossest things around, but Chloe is helping my attitude change.

Ouchie

I recently made Michael Spanish Steak for dinner, along with his all time favorite dish, Pilaf. While slaving away to make my husband dinner, I burned my hand with some oil that flew out of the pan and landed along my thumb and hand. Luckily for me, I have the best husband ever who bandaged me up within minutes of the horrific accident and I am healing just fine.

I love my husband.

I also love my first domestic wound. It is going to leave a pretty awesome scar.
