The Proposal

Though this movie was pretty dang funny, that is not the proposal I am talking about. I wanted to get Michael's version and put it on here, but that hasn't happened yet so I figure something is better than nothing.

It was August 14th and we were going to have one of our weekly Friday dates. Being as it was Michael's turn to plan it, I didn't really know what we were going to be doing, I just had a feeling that I should try to look somewhat extra cute for him. I even gave myself a manicure in case my fingers needed to look nice for a certain something something that is GORGEOUS and I absolutely LOVE and he picked it out ALL BY HIMSELF. I guess I should probably post a picture of it but that will have to wait...

Michael picks me up and tells me we are going to go to California Pizza Kitchen. I had this pasta thing and he had like a steak pizza or something. I only point that out because it plays a role later in the evening. Anyone who knows me knows that I have a sweet tooth and we were in desperate need of some sugar after dinner so we went and got some yummy fudge. Then Michael informed me that we were going to go drive up the canyon, which for those of you who do not know what the canyon is, it is Provo Canyon that leads to Sundance which is seriously one of my favorite places in the world. It is so pretty and peaceful up there.

So the drive up the canyon begins. We started at Sundance and proceeded to go through Aspen Grove, which is why I love that place so much. At one point of the drive, you come to a fork in the road. We didn't know which one to take so we went right, which got us lost. It was rainy and cloudy and all you could see for miles were the mountains and clouds. Michael kept looking for a spot to pull over and we eventually did. It was a short lived stop where we managed to take a picture before lightning started coming down and it caused my hair to stand up which freaked Michael out. We got back in the car to drive back to the fork in the road and continue on the Alpine Loop.

This is when my dinner comes into play from earlier. The drive up the Alpine Loop is a lot of switch backs and tiny roads. The contents of my not so yummy pasta dinner were ready to come out and not in a good way. I kept telling Michael to pull over and as soon as he found a suitable spot he did. I proceed to get out of the car and burp and barf and make really nasty noises to help me throw up. Now if this had been a first date, I would have been mortified. But, when you love someone, you know they will love you even if you throw up and make gross noises in the process. Michael even held my hair for me like a gentleman.

After I threw up, I wanted to take a picture because we were in the middle of the woods in a really pretty spot. Michael never lets me take pictures of him so when he agreed to let me take one of us after my little up chuck episode I was ecstatic. I went to the car to get my camera but it was locked. I went to turn around to ask him to unlock the car but low and behold, he was right there holding a little box with the biggest grin on his face. I was in shock and started laughing and crying and saying, "BABE! I JUST THREW UP!" He said that he didn't care and tried to give me the ring without actually asking to marry me. I wouldn't take it because he didn't really ask. He then asked me to be his wife and I said yes of course.

And that is our proposal story.
